GRAPEFRUIT, Citrus racemosa
Native to Asia, the white grapefruit tree is large, about thirty feet tall, with glossy leaves, white flowers, and large pale yellow fruits with pinkish flesh. The differences between white and pink grapefruits are minor, but more pink grapefruit is produced because it is sweeter.
The origin of grapefruits comes from the hybridization between sweet orange and other citrus fruits. It is known that the Persians already cultivated this type of citrus and it became popular for its low caloric value, benefiting weight loss in diets for this purpose.
